Wine of the Month

Rosenblum Cellars

Our latest wine of the month is Rosenblum 2006 Richard Sauret Vineyard ZinfandelEnjoy this rich fruit packed Zinfandel with aromas of black currant followed with delightful flavors of raspberry and a hint of earth and black pepper. It is a lovely wine.

The grapes for this wine came from the Paso Robles vineyards of established winegrower, Richard Sauret. The wine was aged for 15 months in a combination of French and American oak barrels. Ths wine is 86% Zinfandel and 14% Petite Sirah. The alcohol content is 14.7%.

Rosenblum Cellars is one of our favorite producers of Zinfandel. They produce many single vineyard Zinfandel as well as cuvees, dessert wines, and other varietals. Overall Rosenblum makes more than 40 different wines.

If you are visiting the San Francisco area, pay a visit to Rosenblum's winery and tasting room. It's located at 2900 Main Street Su. 100 in Alameda, Calfornia. You will discover a friendly tasting room pouring some wonderful wines. They're open daily from 11 AM until 6 PM. Their second tasting room in downtown Healdsburg is also open daily from 11 AM until 6 PM.

Be sure to check back each month for our wine of the month.

Central Valley Wineries

California's Central Valley has a number of wine regions that are producing great wines. Many of these wineries have tasting rooms where you can sample their wines. Tasting is usually free.

Lodi is the largest wine region in the Valley. There are more than 25 wineries in the Lodi Wine Country with wine tasting rooms. Many wineries outside of the area purchase grapes from this region as well. You will find a diverse group of wineries in Lodi and many superb wines. Some Lodi wineries are small family wineries while others are larger.

Enjoy a visit to the Sacramento River Delta while you sample wine in the Clarksburg Area just fifteen miles or so south of Sacramento. Begin your trip at the Old Sugar Mill in Clarksburg where you can sample the wines of five wineries in one location.

If you haven't discovered the Madera Wine Trail, consider a visit soon. This wine region is located near Fresno. It's a growing region boasting ten wineries with wine tasting rooms currently open for business. The oldest wineries in this area, Ficklin and Quady, have been around for a long time and produce wonderful dessert wines.

Tracy Hills was only recently recognized as a wine appellation. Tracy Hills is located between the city of Tracy and the Altamont Hills to the west. The three wineries with tasting rooms are definitely worth a visit. I'm this is a region that will be growing soon.

An Easy Way to Aerate Wine

If you haven't tried the Vinturi Wine Aerator, you really should. We've done blind testings of the Vinturi and it really does work!

The Vinturi instantly improves the bouquet, flavor, and finish of a wine. This amazing gadget aerates your wine quickly and easily. Simply hold the Venturi over your glass. Pour the wine into the aerator and into your glass.

It's much faster than decanting your wine to let it breathe and very convenient.
