Roaring Camp Railroad

Travel back in time. Roaring Camp Railroad is an historic train that winds through the redwood forest and to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. Experience incredible views along the way, whichever of the two routes you choose.
The Roaring Camp Railway is located in the small town of Felton just six miles from Santa Cruz. There's lots to do in this 1880s logging town including hiking through the redwoods, gold panning, horseshoes, and volleyball.
Visit the blacksmith, general store, old time photo studio, blacksmith, candle shop & chuck-wagon barbecue.
The Redwood Forest Steam Train
The Redwood Forest Steam Train is pulled by an 1880s steam locomotive. This historic locomotive used to haul giant redwood logs out of the Santa Cruz Mountains. This route takes you through a dense redwood forest to the summit of Bear Mountain.
Santa Cruz Beach Train
The Santa Cruz Beach Train travels through Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. This scenic route takes you across a 1909 steel truss bridge and through a tunnel built in 1875. You can also purchase tickets to travel from the Santa Cruz Beach to the Roaring Camp Train Depot in Felton.

Directions from Santa Cruz:
Take SR-17 from Santa Cruz northeast to Scotts Valley. Get off at Exit #3 at Mt. Hermon Rd. and drive 3.5 miles northwest to Felton. Mt. Hermon Road ends at Graham Hill Road. Turn left on Graham Hill Road and drive 1/2 mile to Roaring Camp (on the right).
Directions from San Jose Area:
Take 880 south to I-880/SR-17. Continue southwest on I-880/SR-17 to Scotts Valley. Get off at Exit #3 at Mt. Hermon Rd. and drive northwest 3.5 miles to Felton. Mt. Hermon Road ends at Graham Hill Road. Turn left on Graham Hill Road and drive 1/2 mile to Roaring Camp (on the right).
