Oakville Wineries of Napa

Oakville Grapes

Visiting Oakville wineries is a great way to discover some of premium Napa wine. There are many world-class wineries located in Oakville and so many great wines waiting for you to taste.

Oakville got its name because of the thick groves of native oak trees that once covered this area. Oakville was a stop on the Napa Valley Railway Line in the late 1800s.

Visitors often stop in Oakville today to shop at the famous Oakville Grocery on Highway 29. This historic store sells picnic supplies, wine, and other food items as well to enjoy during your Napa wine tasting trip. You may want to get a take-out meal here and picnic at one of the beautiful Napa Valley wineries in this area.

This Mondavi winery specializes in Italian varietal wines and was launced in 1994. Wines include Pinot Grigio, Barbera, Sangiovese, and a special blend called Colmera. Colmera is a Sangiovese based blended named after the birthplace of Robert Mondavi's mother, Rosa.

Founded in 1998, this family owned winery produces a variety of wines including Cabernet Sauvignon, a Bordeaux styled blend called Oracle, Syrah, Zinfandel, Merlot, Petite Sirah, Rosato, Chardonnay, Viognier, and Sauvignon Blanc.

Napa Wine Company provides winemaking equipment for Napa winemakers who process their grapes here at this Oakville winery. You can sample the wines of up to 25 different wineries at this one location.

You must call for an appointment for Napa Valley wine tasting at this winery.
Nickels and Nickels exclusively produces 100 percent varietal, single vineyard wines. This Oakville winery was founded in 1997 by the partners of Far Niente.



Opus One Winery - Napa Valley Opus One

Wine tasting is by appointment only. However, we have called on our cell phone as we drove through the gates and we always get an appointment with no problem.
This winery is a joint venture between Robert Mondavi and Baron Philippe de Rothschild of France. Opus One only makes one Cabernet Sauvignon a year. The quality is great but the cost is high. The last time we tasted here it was $25 for one taste of their one wine. Opus One will be an interesting stop on your Napa Wine Tour and the rooftop patio has a great view of Napa Valley.

This Oakville winery was established in 1981. It is well known for its full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay.

Robert Mondavi is renowned for producing quality wines of many varietals including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay, Syrah, Fume Blanc, Zinfandel, Pinot Noir, and their fabulous dessert wine, Moscato d'Oro. If you are visiting in the summer, consider attending Mondavi's Annual Summer Music Festival that kicks off each year on the 4th of July.
